MAMA. Arts traditionnels du Gabon et d'Afrique

In 2026, the works of the Comilog Foundation Collection – comprising masks, statuettes, talismanic objects, antique treasures and finely crafted torcs – took their place in the display cases of the Musée d’Art Moderne et Ancient in Libreville.

The works presented in this book, most of which originate from the cultures of Atlantic equatorial Africa, bear witness to reciprocal influences among regional groups. Far from overlooking their central role as spiritual mediators at the heart of communitites, the authors examine the historical, artistic, philosophical and anthropological factors essential to their conservation.

Finally made available to the public, this exceptional heritage reflects the rich diversity of Gabonese cultures.
